# FamilySearch's collaborative tree

The tree that can be followed on FamilySearch and in other published trees, which take their lines from Eliyahu's Branches (1997): Khana daughter of Dov-Ber (Berel) Komisaruk and Ester, a granddaughter of the Gaon; Dvorka daughter of Mordechai Yovel and Ita; three generations above Falk. It is the one this site drew until now, and two of its filiations are contradicted by the 1858 census.

FamilySearch is a tree anyone can edit. For this family it follows, in essence, Chaim Freedman's reconstruction in Eliyahu's Branches, of 1997: the book is attached to the entry for Yehuda Leib, the Gaon's son. Other published trees repeat the same, adding the three generations before Falk (Alexander, Yehuda and Leizer Zhmuydya), with no documents attached.

Until the 1858 census was read with the women's patronymics, this was this site's tree. Two of its filiations, precisely those that go up through the women, are contradicted by that census: they are drawn with the background for what has been disproved.

## Filiation by filiation

- **Khana Reizel** — father: Dov-Ber (Berel) Komisaruk; mother: Esther Leib — CONTRADICTED by a document. The 1858 census calls her “Хана Залкова”, daughter of Zalka: she cannot have been the daughter of a Berel or a Velvel. (The 1858 census)
- **Dvorka** — father: Mordechai Yovel; mother: Ita — CONTRADICTED by a document. The 1858 census calls her “Дворка Абова”, daughter of Aba. Besides, Mordechai would have died in 1831, seven years before the birth her ages give. (The 1858 census)
