## What is known

The list of families who moved from Vitebsk province to Novy Zlatopol, of 1850 and 1852, records in household 94 Aba Zhmuydya, aged 50, with his wife Chana, 37, his daughter Dvorka, 14, a son-in-law, Berko Lozhov, 28, his wife Chaska, 31, and their son Movsha, 11 (as Chaim Freedman transcribes it; this research has not seen that sheet). In the 1858 census household 94 is headed by “Aba Senderov Zmudya”, aged 56, with his son-in-law Berka Khatzkelev Lozhnov, of Sebezh, his wife “Khaska Abova” and their son Movsha: Chana and Dvorka are no longer there.

Dvorka appears instead in David's household, married to Koppel, and the census calls her “Дворка Абова”, daughter of Aba, aged 20: the age the Dvorka of 14 in the 1852 list would have. By name, patronymic, age, colony and family, it is her. Freedman reaches the same conclusion in his October 2020 study, which also proposes, as a theory, that Aba's wife was a Yovel.

Aba's patronymic, Senderov, says his father was called Sender, the usual form of Aleksander. In the same colony lived Elia Senderov Zmudya, who would be his brother. Freedman proposes that this Sender is Falk's father, and therefore that Aba was David's uncle and Dvorka a cousin of her father-in-law: no document says so yet.

## Parentage, version by version

- The JewishGen trees (https://smud.mateosmud.xyz/en/family-tree/jewishgen/) — father: Alexander Zhmuydya — compatible with the documents. “Aba (Abel ?) Zhmuydya, 1802, son of Aleksander Zhmuydya and Dvorka”. The census patronymic, Senderov, says his father was called Sender, the usual form of Aleksander.
- Chaim Freedman, October 2020 (https://smud.mateosmud.xyz/en/family-tree/freedman-october-2020/) — father: Alexander Zhmuydya — compatible with the documents. “Aba Senderov”: his father was called Sender. That this Sender is the Alexander of the trees, Falk's father, is Freedman's proposal.
